Everything You Need to Know From Today’s Apple Event

| Words by Madeline Myers

Apple kicked off its spring event with two major updates: the new iPhone 17e and an updated iPad Air powered by M4. If you’re looking for a recap, here’s everything you need to know about the latest iPhone 17e specs and M4 iPad Air features.

Meet the New iPhone 17e

Apple refreshed its entry-level iPhone without raising its starting price At $599, iPhone 17e maintains its place in the lineup while introducing some exciting upgrades.

The iPhone 17e now offers Qi2 wireless charging speeds up to 15W.

Base storage now starts at 256GB, doubling last year’s entry point and giving users more room for photos, apps, and videos from day one. One of the biggest iPhone 17e features is full MagSafe support, now paired with Qi2 wireless charging speeds up to 15W. That’s twice as fast as the previous model and a welcome upgrade for anyone invested in the MagSafe ecosystem. Still looking for the perfect charger? We’ve got you covered with Stand One and Stand One Max.

The 6.1-inch display now features Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says improves scratch resistance and reduces glare. Design-wise, the iPhone 17e will feel familiar. It keeps the same 48MP Fusion camera system and overall form factor as its predecessor.

Inside, the iPhone 17e runs on Apple’s A19 chip, the same silicon found in the iPhone 17 Pro models. That means support for Apple Intelligence, improved performance, and compatibility with iOS 26. Apple also introduced its updated C1X cellular modem for faster connectivity and improved network performance.

Checking all your boxes? iPhone 17e pre-orders open March 4, with in-store availability beginning March 11.

Say Hello to a New iPad Air

Apple also introduced the M4 chip to the iPad Air. While the M4 technically remains one generation behind the current iPad Pro, the difference is largely about positioning. For most users, the M4 iPad Air delivers more than enough performance.

The iPad Air M4 handles everyday tasks like streaming, browsing, and note-taking with ease. It also offers stronger performance for more demanding workflows (think video editing and graphic design) compared to previous iPad Air models.

Apple increased memory from 8GB to 12GB, giving the device more breathing room for apps and future updates. According to Apple, the M4 delivers up to 2.3 times faster performance compared to the M1 iPad Air, along with significant gains in graphics performance, including ray tracing support. The new iPad Air ships with iPadOS 26.

Connectivity also sees a little boost. The inclusion of Apple’s N1 and C1X chips makes this the first iPad Air to support Wi-Fi 7, with optional 5G cellular connectivity available for those who need it.

And perhaps most notable: the pricing remains unchanged! The 11-inch iPad Air M4 starts at $599, while the 13-inch model starts at $799, each with 128GB of storage.

Like the iPhone 17e, iPad Air M4 pre-orders open March 4, with availability beginning March 11.
