About Us

Our Values

For us, Nomad is much more than a brand name; it is a way of being, a design philosophy, a community, and much more. From a single idea - an ultra-portable, minimalist charging cable - we've built out a whole line up of tools for the 21st-century nomad. Along the way, some core values that unite the entire Nomad community have defined everything we do. We value resourcefulness, seeking adventure, and living in the moment. We believe that the smartphone is the 21st century equivalent of the sword: a tool that everyone can wield and change the world with. Consequently, we build products to ensure that your smartphone is there whenever you need it.

Our Story

Nomad began as a Kickstarter project in 2012. Brian Hahn & Noah Dentzel met in Santa Barbara, California and set out with a vision of creating a minimalist iPhone cable that would seamlessly integrate into your everyday carry. ChargeCard, Nomad's first product, launched on Kickstarter on July 18th, 2012. Like many startups, we relied on help from friends, family and strangers to bring Nomad from concept to reality. We started off in Noah's grandma's basement and bounced around from Agoura Hills to San Francisco and finally back to Santa Barbara, California, where we are headquartered now. Commitment to Product

Nomad is and always will be a company that prioritizes design and quality over everything else. One of the most important aspects to us when designing new products is that we use the highest quality, longest-lasting materials available. We design all of our concepts from the ground up, rather than white labeling existing products. From the Horween Leather we use for our cases and Apple Watch straps, to the rugged Kevlar® construction of our cables, we choose materials that stand out and outlast. It costs more to do so, but the cost isn't as important as the value that doing so creates.

Looking Forward

Looking forward to 2021 and beyond, Nomad will continue to innovate with new products and new designs, while at the same time keeping true to our roots that go all the way back to a dream that started with one cable, two friends and the Kickstarter community. We are eternally grateful to our original backers and there is nothing I like more than running into someone who supported us on our original Kickstarter and hearing about their experience with the product. What is even more meaningful to me is that many of those people have remained Nomad customers to this day.

A Word From Our Founders

We've always thought of Nomad as a "big little company" meaning that whatever we do, we do it well and with the same passion and energy that a much larger company with more resources would bring to a project. As time has passed, we've gotten a little bigger, enough so that Brian and I have been qualifying the "little big company" as a "big, little big company." Everything started with a simple idea that friends and family helped turn from concept into a reality. We look forward to continuing this journey with you, our fellow Nomad.
